Observed Forest School Lesson by NIFSA

The children were learning to light a fire safely.

The children :
– walked to the forest school area ensuring to cross the road safely and with an adult.
– set boundaries to outline where was safe to play.
– practiced returning to a safe space when the whistle was blown.
– worked as part of a team to light a fire.
– made s’mores.
-explored fire safety rules and procedures, including how far to stay away from the fire, how to put a fire out and what to do in a an emergency.
-explored and climbed a fallen tree.
-experienced a swinging hammock.
