Seated area: Hold up animals and ask what they are. Show visuals of each type of house mentioned in the Gruffalo: underground house, treetop house, log pile house. Which house belongs to which animal? Can the children sort them?
Activities for exploration:
1. Mud kitchen: ‘Can you make the Gruffalo some yummy food?’
2. Free play.
3. STEAM Challenge: Make snake’s log pile house.
4. Free digging area using tools.

Practice whistle rules:
Every so often practice whistle rule for stop. Every 10 minutes (depending on time remaining) bring back to group and encourage to change activity.
