Pre-Writing Patterns/Counting to Six 11 September 2024

In this lesson, Primary 1 children used stones to draw written patterns using chalk. The children had to copy the pattern they were given before swapping to a different pattern and drawing it on the other side of the stone. All the children went around each group to discuss the different patterns they had made. When they finished the patterns, the children got some free time to design their stone. For the second activity, the children were placed in small groups to find a certain number of objects, e.g. 6 leaves. This was done using the numbers 1-6. The objects were placed on top of the correct number and all the children counted together to ensure there was the correct number of objects.
